Geneva
The city of Geneva is situated in the West of Switzerland where the Rhône exits Lake Geneva. With a population of around 200,000 it is the 2nd biggest city after Zürich and hosts the headquarters of many International bodies such as: United Nations and Red Cross. Surrounded by 3 mountain chains allows for some great views and landscape to which the city takes full advantage off. The Geneva Conventions are also held here which concern the treatment of wartime non-combatants/prisoners of war.
The Jungfrau Region
This region offers a plethora of activities and locations to visit including the resort towns of Wengen, Mürren und Lauterbrunnen. The First Flyer is a great attraction to visit for some amazing views as you soar through the air on a cable at 84 kilometers per hour. Or if you want to take a more relaxing route a cable car or train will give a tour throughout the vast mountain ranges and small towns.
The Alps
This vast area of land is home to all of the highest mountains within the Alps and can be traversed by cable car or climbing for the more experienced. The 23,000km of trails located in mountainous areas are a great place for hikers to explore the region and see the sights without needing too much effort in the summer months. During winter the ski resorts are in full swing and generate a lot of tourism for the area with Davos, Zermatt VS and Engadin being some of the most visited places.
Rhone Glacier Ice Grotto
Nestled within the Swiss Alps, Rhône Glacier is the source of the river Rhône. It is within this glacier that an ice cave lies. Carved freshly out of the glacier each year it gives an insight into the heart of a glacier and all the views that come with it. 3km down from the Furka Pass allows for a mystical experience with winding paths to explore the full extent of this magical cave.
Old Town, Bern
The capital city of Switzerland, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a medival town dating back to 1191. This beautiful town in the center of Bern has been preserved with buildings like the: Clock Tower, Prison Tower and sculptural fountains from the renaissance. This part of Bern is not just a magnificant place to visit for the views but also the activities, the surrounding river can be used for swimming and boating during summer and the Bärengraben (Bear Pit) is a nice change up from the usual.
Rhine Falls
The Rhine Falls is the largest waterfall in Switzerland, located on the High Rhine at 150 metres wide and 23 metres high. First formed 14,000 too 17,000 years ago this aquatic feature creates beautiful views and is home to a variety of aquatic creatures. The waterfall can be viewed from boat via boat trips or platforms constructed on either side, these viewing areas allow for amazing photo oportunities and stunning experiences.
